royal boards or imperial boards
Both the Royal and Imperial Duplicate Bridge Boards are available at the same price, but each has unique features that may make one a better fit for your needs. Here’s a quick comparison to help you choose the right board for your game:
Royal Boards
- Tighter Card Pockets - These boards feature slightly tighter pockets, making them ideal for players who use all-plastic cards, which tend to be thinner. The snug fit ensures that cards stay securely in place throughout the game.
- Barcode Labels for Dealing Machines - Royal boards come with a barcode label on the side, designed for compatibility with dealing machines. If you regularly use a dealing machine to pre-deal hands, this feature can be a significant time-saver.
Choose the Royal Boards if you use all-plastic cards or regularly use a dealing machine and need barcode labels for convenience.
Imperial Boards
- Top-Centered Label for Better Visibility - The Imperial boards feature a long label strip down the center, which many players prefer for improved visibility of the dealer and vulnerability information. If you prioritize easily readable labels during play, this might be the better choice for you.
- No Barcode Labels - Unlike the Royal boards, the Imperial boards do not include barcode labels. However, they still function perfectly for traditional hand-dealing setups or if dealing machines aren’t a part of your routine.
Choose the Imperial Boards if you prefer a top-centered label for better visibility and don’t need barcode labels for a dealing machine.
