Ron Anderson (1941-1997) of Chicago IL, options trader and professional bridge writer, player and teacher. Andersen was leading bridge personality for three decades. He won 10 NABC titles that included three Spingold wins and one Reisinger and placed second in a dozen other NABC events. He represented the ACBL in WBF competition seven times. He won the Barry Crane Top 500 five times and secured the Mott-Smith Trophy in 1974 setting a record that held until 1990. Andersen was a talented author, his last work Pre-empts from A to Z (co-authored with Sabine Zenkel) was well received by the bridge playing population. Andersen also wrote several advanced works on the Precision Club bidding system. Andersen is probably most remembered as a commentator of vugraph shows. He was the chief commentator for the ACBL, WBF and the EBU. Andersen was serving as the commentator for the European Team Championships in Montecatini, Italy when he became ill and slipped in to a coma from which he never recovered.
